Biography

Born on 13th March 1897 at Woodford, son of William (Epping Forest Keeper) and Fanny Palmby. 1901: With his family at 6 Selbourne Terrace, Peel Road, South Woodford. 1911: Still with his family at 6 Selbourne Terrace, he was now described as a Drapers Errand Boy, and the name Aug. Warne appears with the entry. However, “Warne’s” was a local outfitters.

He was (correctly) recorded as being an Outfitters Shop Assistant when he joined the Royal Navy for 12 years on 13th April 1915, serving as a Probationary Sick Berth Attendant at Chatham Dockyard in Kent. Unfortunately within six weeks he had fallen ill himself, and died of scarlet fever in the Royal Naval Hospital at Chatham on 25th May 1915.

His parents subsequently moved to Roshe Villa Reading Road, Fleet in Hampshire.

X/R:  Private William Charles Douglas Palmby (Brother).
