Biography

Born in 1897 at Highbury, son of Percy James (Law Clerk) and Ida LLewellyn. 1911: With his family at 67 Gordon Road, Wanstead. By 1915 the family had moved to “St Helier” 117 Gordon Road, South Woodford.

On 8th December 1917, 13 Essex relieved 2 Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry in the line west of Demicourt, remaining there until 14th December when they went back to Lebucquiere. Six days later they moved into support trenches relieving 22 Royal Fusiliers. While undertaking this rotation, the Battalion was shelled, leaving one Officer wounded, 4 other ranks killed and 3 other ranks wounded. On 23rd December 1917 they moved into the front line trenches replacing 1 Kings Regiment.

At some stage Percy Llewellyn sustained wounds, possibly during the shelling on 20th December. He would die from those wounds on Christmas Day, most likely in either 21st or 48th Casualty Clearing Station at Ytres, Arras.
