Born in 1899 at Leytonstone, son of Robert (Railway Clerk) and Emily Peach. 1901: With his family at 3 Tintagel Terrace, Horn Lane, Woodford Green. 1911: A Scholar with his family at 5 Carlton Villas, Ashford Road, South Woodford. The family home was later 15 Ashford Road.
He was a Butcher/Slaughterman when he enlisted on 28th November 1917 at Whitehall, and after training arrived in Boulogne on 17th April 1918. Then he was with 22 London at Etaples, but was transferred to the East Surrey Regiment, and on 20th April 1918 transferred again to 23 London with whom he served until the end.
He was Killed in Action on the Somme during a relatively quiet period following the German Spring Offensive.
