Biography 

Born in 1894 at Wanstead, the youngest Son of Arthur (Surveyors Clerk) and Florence Heard. 1901: A Scholar with his widowed mother and brother George at 44 Addison Road, Wanstead. 1911: A Bank Clerk living with his  mother (a Stationer & Toy Dealer)  and brother at 36 Ingatestone Road, Woodford Green. The address given in his Probate is “Newstead” Horn Lane, Woodford Green. He left the London and Provincial Bank at Lothbury in the City to join the Civil Service Rifles.

The Battalion was deployed in the Ypres Sector of Belgium when he was Killed in Action on Sunday 1st July 1917, the only loss in his Battalion that day.

He is also remembered in the Journal of the Institute of Bankers Roll of Honour.
