Biography
Born in 1890 at Lambourne near Abridge, son of William (initially a Farmer, then Park Keeper/Gardener to the Borough Council) and Anna Bass. 1901: With his family at 1 Beechcroft Road, South Woodford. 1911: A Butchers Roundsman at “Drummore” later at 12 Woodville Road, South Woodford.
Enlisted at Tottenham, and went to France with his Battery on 9th September 1916. He was Killed in Action in during the Battle of the Somme.
This was the first of two sons that Mrs Bass was to lose.
