Born in 1887 at Leytonstone, son of John Percival (Bank Clerk) and Kate Croasdell. 1901: With his family at 24 Latimer Road, Forest Gate. On 1st December 1904 he joined the bank of Messrs. Robarts, Lubbock & Co. 1911: A Bank Clerk with his family at 34 Pelham Road, George Lane, South Woodford. In 1914 he married Helen Ann Limn, daughter of local builder John, and their home was at 4 Marlborough Road, South Woodford.
After war was declared, he enlisted as a Trooper in 3/1 West Kent Yeomanry, which in time was incorporated into 8 Queens Royal West Kent Regiment. From 19th December 1916 he was serving with the Battalion in France, fighting in the Ypres and Arras sectors. He passed the examination to be a Gas Instructor, and was an Acting Lance Corporal. On 29th August 1917 at Ypres he was wounded in the abdomen having rescued an injured colleague and taken him to a place of safety. Croasdell died from those wounds two days later.
Private STK/808 Sidney Edward Richards of 10 Royal Fusiliers, a resident of Kilburn, married his sister Kathleen Norah Croasdell at Holy Trinity Church on 14th May 1916. He too became a fatality on 9th March 1918.
