Biography 

Henry James Stanton was born in 1895. He was the son of salvage dealer Frederick and his wife, Annie. Henry had an older brother and a younger brother and sister. In 1901, the family were living at 16 Cowley Street, Leyton.

Henry’s mother died in 1908 when Henry was 13. His father remarried in 1910 and in 1911 the Stanton family were living at Oak Lodge, Cambridge Park, Wanstead. Henry and his younger siblings were at school, while Cecil, his older brother, had a job as a corn merchant’s clerk. The family also had one servant living with them.

Henry enlisted with the Royal Field Artillery. He was sent to France where he was killed on 3rd December 1918, and was buried at Étaples Military Cemetery, France.
