Biography

Born in 1884 in Stepney, son of George Alexander (Draper) and Barbara Morton. In both 1891 and 1901 he was living with his family at 402 Commercial Road, Mile End Old Town. In 1909 he joined the London Scottish Territorial Regiment. 1911: A Quantity Surveyor’s Assistant still with his parents and brother John at 402 Commercial Road. His wartime Will gives the address of “Dunkeld”, Monkhams Drive Woodford Green, which is the same as his brother John Martin, also a Draper and Partner in the father’s business.

He arrived in Europe on 15th September 1914, and was Killed in Action at the end of the Battle of Loos, during operations around the Hohenzollern Redoubt.

It appears that his family did not seek to claim his medals after the war, because on 6th June 1922 the O/C London Records requested authority to dispose of them.
