Biography 

Ernest Fair was born in 1897. He was the youngest of five children born to George and Harriet Fair. According to the 1911 census, Ernest lived at 37 Lansdowne Road, Seven Kings, and worked as a telegraph messenger for the Ilford Post Office.

Ernest enlisted as a Gunner with the 1/1st Essex Heavy Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. He was sent to the Western Front but was killed in action in the Arras sector on 24th April 1916, aged 19 years old. Ernest was buried in Maroeuil British Cemetery in France.
