Biography 

Born in 1897 at Woodford, son of James (General Labourer at the Gas Works) and Mary Brewer. 1901: With his family at 3A Ray Lodge Road, Woodford Green. 1911: A Scholar with his family at 24 Ray Lodge Road, Woodford Green. He enlisted at Epping and was allocated to the Royal Field Artillery.

15 Division were involved in the Battle of Bapaume (24/25 March 1918) in response to the German Spring Offensive, “Operation Michael”, which began on 21st March 2918 in the area of St Quentin. They were in action again during the 1st Battle of Arras on 28th March 1918 as a result of the German “Operation Mars”.

It is likely that Ernest Brewer sustained wounds during the period after 21st March 1918, which cost his life in one of the Military Medical Facilities at Etaples.
