Born in 1882 at Richmond Surrey, son of Charles (Builders Foreman) and Letitia Satchell. 1891: With his parents at 1 Western Road, near Wood Street Walthamstow. His mother died in 1896. 1901: A Paper Hanger living with his father and siblings at 2 Albert Villas, Worcester Road, Walthamstow. In 1902 he married Florence Gertrude Cozens. 1911: A House Decorator living with Florence, their children Madeline (7) and Ivy ( 2) and extended family at 55 St John’s Road, Walthamstow. Their home was later 8 Elmdale Avenue, Walthamstow.
He enlisted at Walthamstow, and was allocated to 1/6 South Staffordshire Regiment.
Edward Satchell was Killed in Action during the 100 day Offensive. Following the Battle of Amiens, this last big push forced the German Army back to the Hindenburg Line and beyond in a fighting retreat which would continue until the Armistice in November 1918.
It is unclear how he comes to be remembered at the Baptist Church.
