Biography 

Charles Willett was one of ten children born to gardener Arthur Willett and his wife, Annie.

In 1911, the family lived at 10 Chingford Lane, Woodford Green, and fourteen year old Charles was working as an assistant grocer. Charles joined the army and was posted to the Western Front with the 9th Battalion, Kings Royal Rifles Corps. He was killed in action on the 27th June 1916.

After the war, Charles’ younger brother Edward also joined the Kings Royal Rifle Corps once he turned 18 years old in 1920.
