Born 16th December 1878 at Buckhurst Hill, son of Alfred Henry (Solicitor) and Elizabeth Clapham. 1901: Mother now widowed, Aubrey was a Solicitors Articled Clerk, living with his family at Thurlby House Woodford Bridge. 1911: A Solicitor, living at 5 The Terrace, The Hoe, Plymouth; also of Frankfort Chambers Plymouth.
Educated Haileybury 1892-1897 when he matriculated and Worcester College Oxford from where he graduated in 1900. He joined the Public Schools Battalion of Middlesex Regiment on the outbreak of war, and was Commissioned into the 1/4 Essex Regiment on 29th October 1914. He took temporary command of 2/4 Essex holding the rank of Captain. Served with the Egyptian Expeditionary Force from March 1916.
Aubrey Clapham died at a Field Ambulance Station, from wounds he had incurred the previous day during the Battle of Gaza.
