Born 19th July 1892 at Forest Gate, son of Joseph Malaby (Publisher) and Alexandra Campbell Dent. 1901: With his family at Salway Lodge Salway Hill, Woodford Green. Parents later lived at 10-13 Bedford Street, Covent Garden, and "Crohamleigh" Harewood Road, South Croydon.
Educate at Bancroft’s, Bootham School York and Jesus College Cambridge which he entered in 1910. He was a goalkeeper for hockey, and a member of their OTC. He gained a BA in 1913, whereupon he began working in his father’s business - the Temple Press which produced the Everyman series of books.
In September 1914 he joined the RAMC and in April 1915 was sent to Gallipoli. On 20th July 1915 he died from wounds sustained from shellfire during the previous day, which had been his twenty third birthday.
The medal card suggests his medals may have gone unclaimed.
