Biography 

Albert Sidney Escott was born in 1889 to Albert and Alice Escott. The eldest of four children, Albert and his family lived at 15 Voluntary Place, Wanstead. In 1911, Albert was still living at the family home and working as a photographer. He enlisted with the army at Woodford, and joined the 21st Battalion, King’s Royal Rifle Corps. He was sent to France where he was killed in action on 15th June 1917. His name is recorded on the Menin Gate Memorial, Belgium.
