Born in 1895 at Forest Gate, son of Charles (Bricklayer) and Matilda Jeal. 1911: The family was at 1 Melbourne Terrace, Daisy Road, South Woodford. Albert, with his brothers Edward and Frederick were Bricklayers Labourers.
During 9th January 1916, 11 Essex returned to the trenches of the Ypres Salient near the Verlorenhock Road. Their spell of duty was marked by the difficulty in locating a German sniper who wounded three men, and a shell burst which wounded another six members of a working party. They also faced the ever present threat of a gas attack. It is unclear in what circumstances Albert Jeal was Killed in Action.
