Albert Edward Perkins was the son of Joseph and Celeste Perkins. The family, including one of Albert’s brothers, Frederick, and his sister Amelia, were living at Aldborough Hatch Farm in 1911. Albert’s father, Joseph, is recorded as an agricultural farmer, although at the time of the 1911 census he was noted as ‘paralysed’. Also living in the household at the time was a nurse and servant, possibly to help with the care of Mr Perkins. Albert was listed as a municipal clerk.
During the war, Albert served as a Rifleman in the London Regiment (Queen’s Westminster Rifles). He married Florence Jennings in the spring/summer of 1917 but his marriage was to be short-lived as he was killed on 16th August 1917, aged 36. His name appears on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial in Belgium.
His widow, Florence, was living at 102 Norfolk Road, Seven Kings, according to Commonwealth War Graves Commission records compiled after his death.
