A stained glass panel at St. Mary’s Church, South Woodford, is dedicated to the memory of the men of Woodford who died in the First World War. The panel is set in the middle of a larger pane of clear glass and is comprised of fragments as the original windows were damaged following a fire in February 1969. This explains why the inscription does not read as intended.

Although the church was irreparably destroyed in the fire, it was rebuilt and rededicated in June 1972.
