Biography

Reginald Alfred Needham was born in 1896. His father Alfred was a commercial traveller. The family were presumably fairly affluent because in 1911 Reginald was living away at a boarding school in King’s Lynn. Whilst he was at school, Reginald’s family were living at 22 Dover Road in Manor Park, and employed one servant.

Reginald enlisted with the Royal Fusiliers, but was later transferred to the 1st Battalion Cameronian (Scottish Rifles). Reginald was injured in France and later died of his wounds on 16th June 1916; he was only 20 years old. His body was buried in Calais, France.
