Biography 

Percy Taunton was born in Forest Gate in 1886 to Charles Frederick & Eliza Taunton. In 1911 Percy was living 47 Ranelagh Gardens, Ilford with parents and siblings Sidney Gilbert Harold and Horace Stanley William.  On the census Percy is listed as being an assistant in Town Clerk's Office; his father is a 'manager & surveyor'.

Percy married Lilian Emily Byerley in 1911 and had a son in 1914. Percy enlisted in the Royal Garrison Artillery as Gunner before being promoted to second lieutenant. Percy was killed in action on 7th August 1917 and is buried in Dickebusch New Military Cemetery, Belgium. He is also commemorated at All Saints Church, Forest Gate.
