Biography 

Born in 1878 at Forest Gate, son of James F. (Superintendent in the Docks) and Louisa Campbell. 1891: With his family in Chelmsford Road, South Woodford. He attended Bancroft’s School. 1901: A Commercial Clerk, boarding at 1 Summerfield Terrace, Tormoham, Torquay.

In 1907 he married Evelyn Constance Hyder Judkin-Fitzgerald, born 22th October 1879, daughter Sir Joseph Capel Judkin-Fitzgerald, (4th Baronet of Lisheen) and Lady Fitzgerald (Constance Sarah Hyder). 1911: A Dredging Contract Agent & Dredging Superintendent, living with his wife at “Buena Vista” Vergam Terrace, Fishguard. His Will in 1917 gave the address “Glen Ray” Rosebery Road, West Runton, Norfolk. After the war his widow was living at Grey Turrets, Haslemere. For many years an annual memorial notice for Oscar was placed by her in the Woodford Times.

He was Commissioned into the Royal Engineers (Highland Division) with effect from 30th December 1915. His medal card suggests he arrived in France on 10th June 1917, but very soon died in a Casualty Clearing Station from wounds received in action near Ypres.
