Biography 

John Edgar Wolton, born September 1899, was the oldest child of Edgar (Gas Service Layer) and Alice Wolton. In 1911, the Wolton’s lived at 150 Vicarage Lane, Stratford, West Ham, at which time John was eleven years old and still at school. When he enlisted at Epping he was resident in Woodford, in 1918 his address being 9 Avenue Road, Snakes Lane. 

John enlisted in the army with the 18th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers, and was sent to France. He was killed on the 24th May 1918 in France. His name is recorded on the Pozièrs Memorial.
