Biography 

Herbert William Robinson was born in Northamptonshire in 1896. He was the oldest of three children born to Herbert and Annie Robinson. Herbert Senior was a decorator. In 1911 the family was living at 9 Wellesley Road, Wanstead. Herbert, aged 15, worked in the decorating business alongside his father. His younger brother and sister were still at school. The family also employed one female servant.

Herbert became a Private in the Lincolnshire Regiment, but was killed on 1st July 1916.

Along with Douglas Haydn Garner, Wilfred Piercy, and Herbert Septimus Ray, he has a window dedicated to his memory in Wanstead Methodist Church.
