Biography

Henry Thomas Cufley was born in 1882. He lived with his parents, brothers and sister at ‘Kingswood’, Forest Rise in Whipps Cross, Essex. In 1911, aged 28 years old, Henry was working as a commercial clerk.

Henry joined the army, enlisting with the 6th Battalion City of London Rifles. He was killed on the Western Front on the 30th November 1917. His name appears on the Cambrai Memorial, France.

Although no census data has been found to place Henry or his family in the Redbridge area, it is possible he had friends or family in the area who requested for his name to appear on a local memorial
