Biography 

George Leo Walter Bartholomew was born in 1899. He was one of seven children born to George Bartholomew and Isabella Barnes. George Sr. was a Woollen Manufacturer Agent. In 1911, the family were living at 37 Forest Road, Forest Gate, George was the oldest son and second child in the family.

George became a Second Lieutenant with the Royal Fusiliers. He survived the war but fell victim to the influenza pandemic on 6th April 1919. He was laid to rest in the City of London Cemetery, Manor Park. At the time of his death, George’s parents were living at 44 Claremont Road, Forest Gate.
