Biography 

Born in 1893 at Woodford, son of Frank (a Grocer in 1901 and 1911, but later described as a Shipbrokers Clerk) and Agnes Nicholson. 1901: The family home was “Oakfield” Grove Hill, South Woodford. 1911: Alexander was a Bank Clerk still with his family at "Oakfield." He was educated at Woodford College.

 He enlisted at the Battalion Headquarters in Somerset House, and was sent to France on 17th March 1915. He died it is suggested from wounds received earlier, while a P.O.W. in Germany.
